Day 6: Anchorage to Wasila

After I said goodbye to David and the French guy and get ready to start, I found there were some problems in the front racks. I couldn’t put front panniers on the racks. It took me almost 1 hr to solve the problem.

Alaska is beautiful. I can see mountains, gracias everywhere. Probably as magnificent as those I saw in Tibet. But somehow I cannot find any excitement that I felt in Tibet. I guess it’s because Alaska is more modernized than Tibet, or simply because I have to put much more intension on the cars passing by me instead of on scenery.

Strictly speaking, today is the first day of my journey. I haven’t made any long-distance, heavy-equipped trip for two years. My muscle has forgotten how to ride a full-equipped bicycle. And I thought the population in AK is less than any other places, so I had better bring as many foods as I can, which turns out I am wrong, makes the situation worse. Not only I have to use more energy to go forward, but use much power to handle the bike. I felt my legs and shoulders are crying at 2 pm.
正當Suddenly, a woman pulled her car on the roadside called me, and gave me a chocolate bar and a bottle of water. This is not unusual. People in Japan, China, US give me something once a while. That energizes me every time. But few minutes later, I got tired again. I thought it’s time to call off the day.
